Once upon a time there was a girl who recalls the good ol’ days of high school when it came to things like dial-up, AOL, yahoo, chat rooms, Facebook, and Ask Jeeves. It opened the world to us with just a few clicks.
Skip many years later and we have these computers in our pockets with the creation of the “smart phone.” It still amazes me when I look at my kids and they don’t even know a world that wasn’t at their fingertips.
I will be that person who says what has now become almost a cliche: Technology has opened up the world at the same time as making our world smaller because now we were all connected ALL the time.

When it comes to the expectation (especially of my generation) to be connected 24/7, the Mandalorian says it best: “This is the way.”
We are expected, and even at times required, to be socially connected online all the time with our jobs, our friends, our family, our kids, and the list goes on. As much as the pressure has been, I have been able to get rid of much of my social media over the last few years, but never 100% because going off-grid is basically impractical for my every day life, especially as a working professional and a mom/stepmom of 4 kids.
So, why is this millennial after all these years finally breaking down and creating a blog (breaking her rule of sharing personal stories)? Well, to be honest there are few big reasons.
First, I used to love writing, but haven’t written much at all in the last 10 years (more to come on that in a future blog). I soulfully miss writing and if writing a blog about my experiences, life lessons, relationships, and epiphanies gets the juices going then this blog is already a worthwhile venture.
Second, I believe I have something to offer those who are also searching for answers to their everyday struggles; tips or considerations as they make life decisions; and someone to relate to and affirm that they are not alone. I have found myself in some very interesting (almost comical) predicaments in which I have experienced things that I want to pass on and hopefully help others. I am also an avid researcher and very self aware of how life can be (which is typically not what we think it is) and want to share what I have learned.
And finally, I’ve started this blog because I have had this incredible desire to have a different kind of connection with people that I don’t have today. Not sure why this has been weighing on me lately, but I want to connect with people through a community in a healthy way. A desire to be a part of something bigger than myself.
Perhaps that is how society has raised me to be – always searching and getting the instant gratification of connection online, whether it is superficial or deep. Perhaps “this is the way” of the millennial. So, here I am embracing who I am and my generation…
Welcome to my blog.
